Puppy Kindergarten - The most important class for every dog to get them started off on the right paw! Designed for puppies 3-5 months. We help you to understand your puppy, answer questions and have discussions about responsible dog ownership. By helping you understand training techniques, your puppy is introduced to sit, down, stay, come and walking on a leash.
S.T.A.R. Puppy - A natural lead in to the AKC® Canine Good Citizen® Program. For Puppies 5 12 months. Your instructor will administer the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy test at the end of the course. S.T.A.R. stands for Socialization, Training, Activity, Responsibility. Classes will cover OWNER BEHAVIORS,such as maintaining your puppys health and being prepared to clean up after your puppy. PUPPY BEHAVIORS, such as no aggression toward people and other puppies in class and PRE-CANINE GOOD CITIZEN® TEST BEHAVIORS, including grooming, walking on a leash, sit, down and come.
This is the starting point for every dog who is 6 months or older. We cover the basics of sit, down, stay, come and walking on a leash as well as provide a foundation for good canine manners.
AFTER BASIC 1:
Family Manners/CGC Continuing education for the family dog, we work on more good manners and building skills that will help you & your dog deal with everyday challenges and preparing for Canine Good Citizen certification.
Pre-Novice - This class will help you with the basics necessary to prepare you and your dog to take Agility, Rally and Obedience Classes or the Canine Good Citizen test. For dogs who have completed Basic 1 and know sit, down and the beginnings of stay.
SPECIALTY CLASSES:
Rally Rally Style Obedience is an obedience program that emphasizes fun and excitement for the dog, handler and spectator, by providing a more "natural" approach to the performance. Rally Style Obedience uses "directional signs" to guide the handler throughout the performance in a manner somewhat similar to that of Rally Car Racing.
Competition Obedience
AKC
Novice - For those interested in showing their dogs in Obedience Trials or who just want to further their dog's education.
Open - Advanced level of Obedience training for those interested in competing. Retrieving (dumbbell) and jumping are part of this course.
Utility - The highest level of Obedience training geared towards competition. Includes Scent Discrimination, Hand Signals, Directed Retrieve and Jumping.
- Consists of training the dog to perform an obstacle course that includes running through tunnels, scaling an A-Frame wall, navigating a see-saw, and jumping many different types of hurdles. Students must have approval from Obedience Instructor before enrolling in Agility Class. Agility students are expected to help with set-up and break-down of equipment.
A. AgilityFor Fun(Non-Competition)
Thisclass is designed to provide a non-competitive introduction to the sport of agility. The ultimate goal of this class is to provide both the owner and dog a fun, learning experience while learning the basics of jumping, tunnels and planks.Agility For fun is not taught as a preparation for agility trials. This class will not address handling techniques.
B. Agility for Competition
(1) Beginner Agility/Foundation Designed for those who want to learn agility foundation that is geared towards competition. Class includes introduction to agility obstacles along with flat-work skills that will lay the foundation for handling techniques.(2) Sequencing/Intermediate - Sequences (short courses) for dogs who are competent in performing all the obstacles, and are preparing to compete.
(3) Handling for Competition/Advanced - Advanced level sequencing for those already competing in Agility competitions, with focus on more advanced handling skills.
Breed Handling - This class is for those interested in showing dogs in conformation.
Nose Work / Scent Work
All Elements / Levels are covered; Containers, Interiors, Exteriors, Vehicles and Handler Discrimination.
Odor Recognition Testing (ORT) and Trial preparation.
These activities and sports are open to virtually all dogs and their people.
Nose Work/Scent Work give your dog the chance to work and play using their natural talents. Dogs love it! It stimulates the mind and believe it or not, even tires most of them out.
Our Nose Work / Scent Work instructors compete in UKC, AKC and NACSW. They've earned many titles on their dogs and received many accolades on their performances.
Even if you never plan to compete, working with your dog when they're on a scent is not only educational but also a wonderful bonding experience.
