Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

Since we started working towards becoming a STEM Certified school, my colleagues and I have tried to uncover every feasible way to engage our students by combining the subjects and the activities they love the most. And we have struck gold!

By using edutainment - combining gaming with reading, math, science, and technology (specifically coding) - we have been able to reach the creative minds and hearts of students who could otherwise go unnoticed.

Bringing Esports into the classroom has sparked a joy for learning in our students and a desire to learn everything they can about this and other aspects of the technology industry.

While it looks like students are just playing games on the surface, the reality is that through the various competitions they are learning and practicing teamwork, coding, reading, writing, math, planning and design, and so much more.

Please help me to continue giving them the tools they need to thrive and flourish in a world that they love so much. The world of edutainment.
